Valentines is Paris is always a cliche, however I thought it was something that had to be ticked of the list…as such on the Friday night before Valentines I decided to surprise my girlfriend with the tickets…She was a little surprised but over the moon…. Coming from London we decided to stop at Chiltern Firehouse for lunch, which was exceptional as always….and the cute salt and pepper pots a nice touch, especially with Valentines on the mind….

After lunch we ventured onto the Eurostar where I had booked seats next to each other, something which I didn’t hear the end of as I made that mistake the previous month. She was less than impressed!!
So we arrived!! a short ten minute taxi to our hotel….we arrived at Le Meurice (Dorchester Collection) to a charming receptionist to check us in. The hotel is a former palace and is truly French opulence at its most. The service is phenomenal and the breakfast is something one must try at least once in a life time.
We were shown to our suite which was stunning, with double height ceilings and a marble bathroom large enough for a football team. Following a nap and freshening up we went for dinner, I had booked her favourite restaurant in Paris, the terrace at Hotel Costes. The waitresses are fabulously French and insatiably rude all of which adding to the ‘scene’. Red velvet sofas and and black walls make this hotel feel more like a 19th century boudoir then a popular eatery. The meal was phenomenal and even better then our previous visit, with Tom Yum Seasbass and Le Tigre (Wagyu Steak) of particular not.
Safe to say a night in Paris for Valentines was a success, the food, the atmosphere and simply Paris being Paris meant for a great weekend. A relaxing Sunday strolling from Place Vendome to Les Marais shopping district and back on the train…
PS. it turns out all the main stores are closed on a Sunday, so be aware or thankful 😉
